Simrad\'s autopilot problem

Hi everybody.
I've bought Simrad AP 12 R autopilot in February and finally have installed it. But got a problem:
I've installed all 3 components on my boat, connected as shown in the manual. When powering on either all RED leds on the control box are on or no leds on at all. Green led doesn't go on. If the reds are on, they are shining maybe 20% of normal brightness.
The led inside the drive unit is blinking 7 times that means that the problem can be anywhere.
I've checked and double-checked the power voltage, polarity, other cabling - all correct.
Again: the device is brand new, from the box.
Maybe someone has an experience with this device?

Re: Simrad\'s autopilot problem

Check and recheck the wiring in the junction box.

If still no go then disconnect the compass and see if the control unit now responds.

All the bits communicate on the white wire and each bit needs power, should be around 12v between red and black.

The lights on the CU do not have good shielding, and will all seem to be on just a bit, which is norma land provides a button find in the dark feature.

Have you tried a factory reset?

Re: Simrad\'s autopilot problem

From the service manaul

7.1 Master Reset Procedure.
A master reset is available to ‘empty’ the pilot’s memory and return all settings to factory
standard:
a. Hold down Port / Starboard / Gain / and Nav keys.
b. Turn power on. (All LEDs should light).
c. Press Auto.
The procedure may need to be repeated to ensure that the unit has reset properly.
When a full reset has been achieved, entering Auto will cause the diagnostic LED to
flash 8 times accompanied by ‘beeps’ on the buzzer.
