Got my new tiller pilot today, installed it and went out for a sail. It worked. Wind probably F5 at most and course held perfectly. I'm happy. A bit noisy would be my only gripe but since I installed my Poly Planar Sound system last weekend Les Miserables on my iPhone cured that!

I bought one last year and sailed all last summer with it, and a little on first outing this year.
Very pleased with it, and it seemed OK up to tacking into an F7 off Islay.
Most useful in singlehanding, but even in company it has use.
I measured current consumption. As expected mush higher in heavier loading, but would still last 70 hours on one of our two batteries. (continuous)

yes my tp22 seems great. Can be over powered dead downwind if the sailplan is not giving very forward lateral resistance. But I guess it may be easier on a modern wide sterned boat

I love it when I get positive replies. Going to ignore the impending negative ones :-))

Here's another one then..:D
I'm a singlehander and used my TP on the last Med voyage 2009/11 and it steered many many miles without a hiccup. Mine's rigged to the Hydrovane rudder and I only used it when I'm motoring but it works brilliantly. If there's any wind the Hydrovane does the work. :D :D

Ours is an old TP30 that we have had for many years. Brilliant bit of kit. Yesterday we crossed from Leros to Astipalaia in a NW 4-5 with a choppy sea on the beam. Not an easy point of sail even by hand, but 'George' did it well for about four hours. I found that a couple of turns in the genoa furler, although not strictly necessary, seemed to help him sail a straighter course with fewer corrections.

A great sail though, 6-7 knots once the wind got up, wearing just shorts. Memorable.
