My boat is 3550kg, and I'd like to connect to the Garmin GPSmap550. Both seem to be suitable, and looking around I think I could get the Raymarine at a better price. Is price the only consideration? What else should I know?

Personally, I like the Raymarine button layout and the digital display. It might possibly be less waterproof and use slightly more amps but with tighter course control than the Simrad, (based on old PBO comparison tests).
Not really much in it IMHO,
But at the online prices I've just looked at, Raymarine every time.

Can't help with the TP22 but I have a TP30 and a TP32. Have owned the 30 for many years, it has done very many miles without any problems. I bought the 32 as a back-up just in case, have used it to ensure it is OK but otherwise it is on stand-by. Excellent bits of kit.

I have tried both on a long keel, heavy displacement (7T) 32ft. I reckon the Raymarine was better at keeping course - I could never seem to get the TP32 'tuned' correctly.

However the TP32 is IMO the better made of the two. Like others I have found the waterproofing of the Raymarine a bit suspect.

I had the TP30 on my Moody31 which was really overkill for my boat.It performed better than the Raymarine 1000 I had on a smaller boat. The Simrad seemed to cope better in the rain i.e. the Raymarine not as waterproof.
I recommend whichever one you have make a canvas cover with a plastic window in it for waterproofing.

For what it's worth, I used the ST2000+ on Kindred Spirit. Not as good as the full S1 below-decks pilot we have now on Ariam, but probably as good as can be expected from an all-in-one tiller pilot.

(For other readers: Kindred Spirit and Russell's Lucy are both Cornish Yawls.)
