Simrad RS8400 VHF

Hi guys.
I recently bought a second-hand RS8400 unit which seems to work really well, except for the internal speaker. I have an external speaker connected which works fine, but when I transmit/receive using the hand unit, there is no sound from the internal speaker. Does anyone know if this is a command option that just needs to be changed? There's nothing in the user guide about it - though I see where I can turn off the external speaker. Many thanks.

Sounds like the internal speaker is broken; normally with ext speaker on the internal is off; if you want to hear it inside then why not 2 speakers off the external plug??

Thanks for the reply. So if I turn off the external speaker, you reckon I should hear something through the internal speaker - assuming it's working? I'm also looking for another external speaker to mount in the cabin - do you know if these are 4 or 8 ohms? Thanks again.

Speakers are 4 ohm on the 8400
