Went to use my VHF today needed to call coast guard ,and no response ,tried switching off and on then noted it was coming up with software problem .
Any ideas if it can’t be reset/update software or time to buy new Radio .

A common problem with the RD68 is the microphone cable crumbling away. I haven't been able to source a replacement. Simrad are not very helpful in my experience.
They did say I could have a new lead free of charge, but they couldn't post it, I had to collect from Stockholm!

I was speaking to a company over the winter about my RD 68 and their advice was whilst they can be reprogrammed ( assuming companies still had the kit) they were basically unsupported by Simrad and that given the labour rate it was a risk that i pay for 2 hours of labour and it still has issues. Given that a new Icom costs £240 or less i would be inclined to bite the bullet and get a new in warranty radio.
