Has anyone had any problems with the WP5000 wheelpilot. I bought one last summer but didn't get to fit it into my 23ft Colvic Watson motorsailer until the winter layup. When lifted back in - it would hold course for about 10 mins then go into a continuous turn. Even after re-siting the sensor head it still failed on two other trips. I have returned it to Simrad but they report that they cannot repeat the fault! and are wanting to charge for suggested replacement of fluxgate without defining the need!

Yep had the same prob.
Inherited the gadgett with the boat.
So no Manual.
Can be re set by pushing the buttons in the correct sequence.
Tried moving the control box out of "harms way" to no avail.
Twas the Brain that needed re programning.
Do a Google to see if you can get the manual up.
I will see if I still have the PM sent to Me.
Then again I can,t remember if it was a Pm or a Post.
No doubt a Forumite will respond.
My gadgett decided it was Forward facing not aft.
Untill I sorted that function out there was no chance to remedy the going round in circles scenario!
So I don't think You need a new Fluxgate.
Well definately not untill You have tried to Re tune!
Sorry not to be more precise, will look at My history on the pute to see If I have saved the Info.
Not mutch good at pute stuff!
Back if I have more usable info!
