Hi do any one have a clue howe to install a remote control Simrad HR 20 i bougt it used with no install manual i have the TP32 autopilot on my sailboat
I'm working on exactly the same problem. I do have the instructions for installation, they are short and with a diagram.
so short, I'll type it out the instructions (don't have a scanner)
The HR20 is linked to the autopilot via its NMEA input terminals. To enable a neat installation, the HR20 is supplied with a 4-way bulkhead socket and cable assembly. This is connected to the power supply, and to the NMEA terminals of the autopilot.
If a GPS/navigational receiver is already interfaced to the autopilot ia the NMEA terminals, these wires should be disconnected and re-linked to the green (COM ) and white (data) wires of the hand remote socket assembly.
The blue and yellow wires should be connected to the NMEA COM and Data terinals respectively of the autopilot to replace the remocve NMEA cable. The red and black wires should be connected to a 12v supply cable.
[ the TP32 manual says that its NMEA wires are this Data is red and should be connected to NMEA out data, common (I guess thats COM) is blue and should be NMEA out common ].
Note that the autopilot and NMEA link will still function with the HR20 plugged.
4 pin socket wiring
wire wire to
green NMEa com from GPS
white NMEA data from GPS
Red 12V+ DC
Black 0V
Blue NMEA com - autopilot
yellow NMEA data - autopilot
so I'm going to connect the red nmea from the autpilot to the yellow on teh hand remote. And the blue autopilot to the blue hand remote.
sounds simple.
I don't have a nmea GPS in my living room so I'll leave that bit out for now.
after working on the sae installation last night but it didn't work.
I've just spoke to simrad. HR20 is an older model than HR22. they use different protocols. HR22 and TP32 communicate through simnet protocol. HR20 uses a different protocol entirely and cannot communicate with TP32. It's impossible to get HR20 to communicate to TP32 due to the difference in protocol.
