Has anyone got any experience of connecting a Simrad AI50 AIS device to a Simrad RD68 VHF? According to the AI50 manual this should be possible using a SimNet cable but, whilst the AI50 has SimNet sockets on the back, the RD68 does not although there are two flying leads for an NMEA connection.

I don't think it will work. The A150 requires a "SimNet compatible" radio, which the RD68 isn't.

Many thanks. You're quite right they're incompatible - the Simrad RD68 design is too old. Its ridiculous for Simrad to sell a new AIS which is only compatible with their expensive range of VHF radios.

Its cheaper to buy Icon products, the IC-M505 VHF and MA-500TR AIS!
