Simpson Lawrence windlass "hand gear kit" - do you have this mysterious widget?
In the course of my windlass dismantlings (see other thread) I've discovered that I would need an extra gadget in order to be able to operate it manually should the electrical parts ever fail. This is described in the instructions as a "hand gear kit", and it looks like two winch handle sockets fixed together side by side, one of them able to rotate and the other not:
Simpson Lawrence Spares don't list it, though I have contacted them to ask if they can get one anyway. I thought I'd also post here in case a) someone has one on board but not the matching windlass, has always wondered what on earth it was for, and would be willing to sell it for a small fee, or b) someone knows where they can be obtained.
I have a lot of chain and a big anchor, and I don't relish the thought of raising it entirely manually, so I'd like to have the widget on board to convert my windlass to hand-crank operation if required.
Cheers,
Pete
