IIRC, having the boot top thickness a constant proportion of the topside height gives the (very subjective) the best appearance.

I think keep the hull white, and don't paint the whole moulded strake, do paint or tape the cove line. Gold is good, but consider a red cove line rather than gold if you want to link the hull to the red canvas work above.
I also think a wide/prominent colour band, such as the moulded strake will have quite a different effect than those pictured in Frank Holden and Danaskip's posts above, as those boats have much taller hulls, and their wide bands reduce the visual height and make them look longer and slimmer. The lower freeboard on your boat doesn't need that treatment, and I suspect would look a little uncomfortably skinny.
