Sikaflex - 8 weeks to out of date?

If you bought some sikaflex online in June and on delivery found it goes off in August would you find that acceptable? I kind of expected at least 12 months but I could be wrong?

I've had cartridges of 291i and 292 open for over a year, in a box in the back of the garage, in all seasons from freezing to roasting.

I usually need to spike or drill through half an inch of the cured contents, but it's still liquid enough to apply, with the hand-pump.

I guess it depends whether you intend to use it straight away or not.

I wouldn't find it acceptable (unless it was heavily discounted and I was aware of the reason for it). I would complain and expect to receive a replacement with an acceptable shelf-life remaining or, failing that, a refund of the purchase price and the cost of returning it.

There's no reason you should be disadvantaged by the seller's inability to turn over his stock.

You're an optimist. People make money by offloading short-dated stuff online.

put it in the freezer. stops it curing. it hurts if it falls out on your toe but otherwise all good

I had 6 'sausages' of Sika sealant left over from when I was in the glass coated tank business stored in my shed for several years, when an application arose, they were solid as a rock.

This thread reminded me that I wanted to use the long-since-opened cartridges to seal lots of gaps in our garage roof.

I had to cut into the side of the cartridge today to access the usable portion, but it was still good, 18 months after opening.

Sealed the cracks above the bathtub too. High time - I'm amazed the people downstairs haven't complained about water damage.

I've got about 20 sausages of Saba (similar to Sika) in the freezer and these must be several years out of date by now. Still soft and usable as normal when opened (thank goodness!).
