My mate is thinking of purchasing a Sigma 33 which we looked at at the weekend. One query arose - how do you access the sterngland and seacocks to the rear of the engine?

Hi,
There is a locker on a starboard side which has a removable inner wall from plywood (two pieces). Then you can easily (or so) dive and do all the jobs.

Cheers
Michal

Word of caution, the sterngland checking and maintenance operation requires a slim agile body with no tendency to claustrophobia. You have to go in head first over the top of the fuel tank and when you get there your head is lower than your feet, there is no room to move your limbs and you have to be very careful not to get stuck. It is worth wearing a boiler suit and having a strong person on standby in case any of your joints go to sleep and you have to be dragged out by the feet. Do'nt ask how I know!!! It is even worse if you are trying to check for a stern gland which is dripping to fast and the engine is running.
One of the very few drawbacks of the 33.
