Hi - anyone know if there are formalities to complete from Sicily to Malta. We’re making the passage later this month. I’ve only got a pre- Brexit pilot book to hand. We will be a British crew on a British flagged boat which has been in the EU for a decade sailing from Sicily to Grand Harbour Valetta. Is it Q flag and customs or straight to the marina?

We sailed from Sardinia to Malta ok an eu flagged boat last month and were required to call port control prior to arrival and to submit a crew list and medical declaration on their templates prior to arrival. We were not instructed to fly Q but were told we could not step foot off the boat until cleared by port health.

the templates were fiddly but we completed them at sea, and emailed from a mobile hotspot as we approached Valletta. We got a reply with clearance from port heath before we had tied up in the marina (all crew fully vaccinated for covid).

probably worth getting the templates to fill in in advance if you can

Basically if you coming from MDR there isn't any , but if you want to make life complicated call up port control who will tell you to go to a marina and then go to customs.
Or just anchor in Rinella Bay then take the dinghy to the ferry port with a crew list .
Passport are not stamp or at less wasn't begin of the year.
The reality is they not interested .
Even if your boarded by MAF while you stay all they want to see is the normally boat papers .
I'm surprise you posted here most in MDR could had given you thus info

I just say you made a rod for your own back.
Once you call Valletta port control you open a can of fish
They will insist you go into a marina start with .
If you emailed Dr Willaims at port medit .Mt he would had told you as far as covid if your coming from another EU country you don't need to do anything thing , if you had a jab
