Planned to take Monday off to go to SIBS, realised Sunday that I had no reason to go, I don't want to buy anything, not bothered about looking at boats I have not the money to buy....went to work instead.

This morning on my way to work I regretted my decision...that was odd.

If you went last year, I don't think you would have missed much, all the usual pitches looked about the same as last year,IPC's tent almost on the corner of the marina entrance, major difference was last year a tall ship up against the wall this year a British War Ship, but I think shes moved on, the blurb said she was open to visiters Sunday and Monday,Rob Braithwaite, had 1 or 2 boats on display,Princess, Fairline,Sealine, all the usual suspects, and the weather's carp. by three in the afternoon my feet were killing me and it started raining, so went home.

Thanks for that honest review... I did go last year, had three pints of the black stuff and wondered round very happily, my folks went yesterday and said it was very quiet, not as many boats in the water as last year, they left after lunch as they said there was not much really to see that interested them... apart from the new Contest 49 (a raggie thing)

I actually fancy doing something different and going to Genoa Boat show in a few weeks instead. I got lost there trying to negotiate the autostrada intersection at 3am on the way back this year, and ended up with a police escort back to it after getting very lost in the port area and being caught doing some illegal manouvres, and what I saw warrants a bit of a weekend.Southampton hasnt changed every time I go, I think , Genoa would be a bit of a change and weather may be a bit better.
The Italian bib were very nice and just wanted to practice their English.

When I inquired a few years ago as to the Genoa Boat Show,TCM ..previous of this parish, described it as a badly painted concrete ex submarine pen,he was right :)
Wonderful boats but "F me " the food was expensive and it was freezing cold and all !

......now a boat show in Genoa.... strangely that is something I had not considered.... Isn't it odd the fact that some countries do shows on a smaller scale but just so much better... the Geneva motor show for example was always far better that the London Motor Show... even when manufacturers thought it worth while doing a show in the uk....

I love boats and the water. Swmbo and I take boating as a hobby and pastime as well as enjoying using the boat, you don't have to be in the market for buying to enjoy.
