Shrimper 19 or Drascombe Coaster

I am biased but the Bayraider Expedition is an lovely boat to sail, quick, tracks well, outboard well which allows you tilt the prop clear of the water, tow really well. I suppose it takes about half an hour to prep and launch with practice and some time saving strategies. Similar to load up. Very capable, sailed around Mull, the Small Isles, Barra, Mingalay etc

Had a Drascombe Longboat, Coaster and Drifter. Just bought a Lugger. The Lugger is well know to be the best balanced sailer of the lot. 20mins to launch, same to recover, VERY easy. No need to get hubs wet. Swinging cradle guides the boat up perfectly everytime...easy and light up to a Coaster.

Shrimper can be an absolute sod to retrieve even with the new trailers. In a side wind especially it can be frustrating to the point of grown men crying. Hopeless, and side guiding supports make no difference. The keel has to be centered (not easy with a side wind causing lean) and you have to get the hubs wet, forget flushing hubs they are also pretty useless. Choose your slip carefully. I would not get a Shrimper as there is a much better sailer... the Cape Cutter. The Shrimper is painfully slow ( a Coaster is faster for goodness sake) and it's tippy. Google Cape Cutter reviews. Dudley Dix designed the hull to be sharp at the front and flatter wider area at the rear which makes her a fast, stable boat. I have sailed with a Cape Cutter and sail a Shrimper and with Shrimpers regularly. They hold there value for a reason. 20k will get you a very nice one trade at yhe moment. Pm if interested, not mine! I want one!!

As already mentioned here the Drascombe Coaster is a true trailer sailer and with the right trailer no need to get hubs wet, can be rigged and launched in 20min, same to recover, and get on the road.
Simplicity is part of the Drascombe charm ,hence the loose footed main, but many including myself fit booms to dramatically improve performance.
