Shower outlet pump spitting back.

Whale gulper 220 is slowly pumping out but spitting a lot back at some force. What might be the cause? Pump valves? Blockage in pipe before pump?

It is the in most hateful location to work on.

Probably. Someone installed a new seacock. Maybe pumped out debris from that.

All depends on height and location. There is likely to be some spillage.

On the shower drain pump it seems the inlet valve has taken a curved and needs replaced. I will get the kit.

I think my heads has one of those that is difficult to operate. Just dread having to replace it as i have found servicing valves not really worth the agro. All the replacements I have seen have the outlets at slightly different angles so possibly involves new pipework as well

I was hoping if I took it apart then it would just be a solid mass of you know what from 6 months ago. Unfortunately I have used the tank twice ...

I will wait till the shower pump is operating then should help to clear whatever.

Lesson learned! Flush everything out of system before you leave the boat for a period.

My boat was new to me in December and the previous owner it would seem never operated peacocks. I can understand for the engine ones that are difficult to access but the others .....
I'm just going to have to remember to operate them every so often, possibly once a month.

I'd be awfully tempted to put a small dose of caustic soda down both, and leave it for a day or two

Just be sure to put an old towel over the shower outlet when you pump - you really don't want it splashing back on you.

Whichever route gets it through the system, but shower pumps (and valves) are easily buggered by hair

Thought it would be that.
Your 2 way valve, its a problem I have found with all these plastic valves, manual or electric. I think the plastic adsorbs chemicals and swells.
