It would be funny if this sort of thing didn't actually happen...
You are wasting your time Duffer, some of these people cannot, will not, are not, prepared to concede that sometimes their behaviour causes others a problem.
you only have to watch dylanwinter's films to realise that some raggies see the very existence of something without sails as a problem. you verge on this yourself. given they show no tolerance, don't be surprised by the reaction to that.
You are wasting your time Duffer, some of these people cannot, will not, are not, prepared to concede that sometimes their behaviour causes others a problem. Some of them actually think it's funny to cause people problems, but thankfully they are in the minority. Personally, I feel that if these people want to set fire to bank notes, thats just fine, and most of them do it in open water and don't cause a problem, it's only brain dead idiots that think it's funny to rip through moorings causing the boats on them to be chucked around, it's only the brain dead idiots that think it's funny to pass close to small craft and sailing boats at speed, or worse at half throttle, creating as much wash as possible.
Thankfully most of the denizens of this forum are not brain dead idiots, they are just your normal happy go lucky kind of idiots, that like to set fire to bank notes! Hey it's their money, well it is until they pour it down the neck of the fuel filler pipe! (grin-grin)I personally do not have a problem with mobos of any kind, there are very few of them where I sail, and those that are around here do not cause me a problem, possibly because the area is not at all conducive to the kind of motor boating that is demonstrated in the photos on this thread. Are you by any chance suggesting that Dylan's films showing mobos tearing through mooring etc. are in some way unjustified? By mobos I am of course referring to anything that is primarily driven by internal combustion.
I suggest that you read my post again...very carefully, because it seems to me that you have gorn orf a little half cocked! There are some very important small, but very operative words you should take note of. Please allow me to assist you, here is my post again with all those little operative words highlighted for your benefit.
i saw that you said 'some', i don't need the playschool treatment. likewise i said 'some raggies'. fortunately, most are fine. but there is a subset on this forum that just wants to cause friction.
flowerpower's photo is a classic case in point - the knee jerk reaction to what is clearly a fake photo is asinine, but typical.
Here you go - surface drives give a very satisfying rooster! (snipped the pics)
I can see why you might find it exciting, but what is satisfying about a bloody great rooster tail? Please don't tell me that I just don't get it, I know that, it's why I am asking the question.I can't see the logic of voluntarily pounding ones internal organs into oblivion either.

I suggest that YOU read your own post carefully, in which you refer to the photos in this thread which you clearly interpret as the kind of motor boating which causes problems to others.
I in no way defend racing through anchorages and causing mayhem. neither do I pretend this has never happened. All I am saying is that yotties ( and I don't necessarily mean you personally) should wave their fists at those who do it, not all moboers on principle, which unfortunately is a common reaction.
In latter years I have used my semi/displacement boat entirely at displacement speeds of less than 7 knots and make virtually no wash. - this does not free me from the fist waving. Blind prejudice gets me the reaction just because I am in a mobo.
This thread's been shamelessly copied from the Ribnet forum so I'll shamelessly repost my wakeshot here too
