A Jeanneau Prestige 60, Easter time last year in the Med can't remember exactly where but somewhere on our route from Gruissan (south of France) to Istanbul. Plus you may also notice we had a companion on the ladder up to the flybridge, he stayed with us all the way to Bonifacio, about 36 hours.

AVON Adventure 7.20 RIB
(1/4 tank of fuel + 2 people)
Mmm... 60kts out of a 200hp single o/b with such RIB? Sounds too good to be true.
Are you sure you weren't looking at mph rather than kts?
The Yam integrated instrument gives both choices (and actually also km/h, IIRC).

Last summer, (if you can call it a summer)on the Solent reaching the neck snapping speed of 14 knots:D followed by a bit of ditch crawling.

Lets hope this year's better. March was nice, but the boat was ashore:(

About three or four years ago at 55mph. Do all Yank boats have speedo's set on mph? First time out in the sun I guess, looking a bit pasty.

Yes and no.
For boats meant for "driving", they always use mph.
I suppose the idea is that you're interested in how fast you're going for the sake of it, rather than using maps, calculating range, etc.
Also in waterski for instance, the slalom course speed is 36 mph, not 31 kts or whatever.
But for any boat meant for cruising, they do use kts.

There was a big beam sea on starboard side in this clip and the flybridge was getting heavy spray, but as ever the sea doesn't look as big on camera. 36kts westerly wind and had been blowing for several days. Stabilisers are stopping any roll. Boat is doing 19-20kts
