Has anyone mentioned hearing aids?
I don’t know much about them except that some people use them.

Used to be very good sitting outside at The Folly Inn, beer in hand watching boats tying up to the piles. Please carry on shouting.
It's the best entertainment for onlookers.
Great that voices travel well across water.
Rubbish. We bought two recommended to us but useless in anything over 10 knots. How well do they cope with wind noise?

Any you would recommend? I’ve not found any that are free and not dedicated to a particular headset. I may be searching for the wrong thing. We have aftershock bone conduction headset which work well - but so far only via phone call. There are various intercom apps you can get for your phones. either use speaker phone or a bluetooth headset. most work over bluetooth so you don't need to be online or in range for mobile. Saves having to buy a dedicated device for a singular use.
You need to both be facing the right way at the right time. And if your hands are busy eg trying to hook a bouy you can’t do them. Or if there’s traffic/plotters/depth sounds to watch the helm might miss something. What's wrong with hand signals?
I worried the same but actually because you don’t even need to speak loudly it’s a calmer experience whichever end you are. As there is always a time lag between a request and the action being apparent the two way dialogue avoids stuff getting repeated with more emphasis (ie yelled). The only time we’ve shouted was when the wind noise was deafening (it was gusting 30 knots) but putting hood up sorted that.Even with headsets I'll probably end up shouting into it, at my peril of course......
They are. Sena SPH10s at £300 for two. Any wind up on the bow, almost impossible to hear each other with wind noise overpowering.I imagine they need to be ones designed for outside use - mic windshield and enough volume in the lug hole department.

Better be good at £179 for one !They are. Sena SPH10s at £300 for two. Any wind up on the bow, almost impossible to hear each other with wind noise overpowering.

Wind noise hasn’t been a problem. Mrs M has a safety cord on hers as she worries it will fall off into the sea when she bends over to put the chain hook on etc.
We have lots of chat as we approach the anchorage. ‘Did you see that boat with six girls and one young man…? He looked a bit tired. Etc.’
On a more serious note we think they’re brilliant. A complete game changer.

You still talk to each other ?...how cuteMy wife is allergic to being shouted at but as she is partially deaf and I am a bit I was thinking about one of those headsets with ear thingy a and a small mic so no shouting is needed in our yachting outings, any experience of possibilities, thanks
