Shore Power when….ashore….

Hi all,

I’m planning my lift out in the new year to have winter work done. As a newbie to UK boating, when you lift out are there shore power connectors in boatyards? Thinking how I run my battery charger, engine room heater etc during the cold weather. I’m lifting out in Saxon Wharf.

I was at Saxon Wharf 2009 until 2020 and yes they have/had shore power that boats ashore could plug into. Just make sure you have a long lead though

I find there is not enough sockets . so peeps will un plug you, we use a socket that sends you a tx to say power is off .

i finlug you back is so we have a unit that tx you if power gors off.lug you and dont pd there is but not enough , so some nice peeps unp

Had a month out at Saxon recently. As said already you may need a long lead (and a long hose) but it does of course depend where you are. Super helpful and friendly yard. My blaster / GRP / Coppercoat man prefers it to anywhere (along with drivers for up to 15 tonnes)

I have fitted a double lead so 2 sockets can be plugged into a single socket - you can also buy triple outlet sockets on ebay. As long as you are using it for say a trickle charger then it should be fine. Search for 'caravan hook up splitter' on ebay

Yes. Or pay a per day rate which is high.

The rate that marinas now seem to be charging for electricity seems to have doubled this year based on our modest dehumidifier charges - you might want to check out costs before you have a nasty shock.
