in my mind's eye I can see something that I think I saw for sale in a on-line chandlery, or maybe at a boat show, or somewhere anyway. But I cannot find it now, or think what it might be called.

It's a replacement socket for shore-power, but it's a unit that's arranged so that the socket is deepset so that the plug goes completely inside leaving only the lead protruding, the flap that covers it then closes down with a small slot for the lead to come out off.

Anyone else seen this? Or can anyone remind me where I've seen it? I need a new cover for my shore-power socket and would really like to get this if I can find it again!
thanks

thanks, but that's not what I mean. I've seen a very specifically designed unit that fits inside the cockpit, so that the cover is flush with the outside and only the lead pokes out. (my shore-power socket is perfectly shin height!)

One of these flush fit inlet ]

thanks, can't tell how deep that goes, ie whether the plug will fit entirely inside it or will still stick out. The ebay one is def too shallow.

I'm convinced I've seen something that very obviously takes the WHOLE plug inside just leaving the cable hanging out. There was a slot in the flap to allow for the cable. Maybe I did just dream it up.

I don't see how this is possible; you need to get your hand in the recess to grip the trailing socket, and release the catch.

It would also be very deep to accommodate a standard connector, projecting a long way back into the space behind it.

I suspect the main difference between the two in MoodySabre's post might be £1.28

One of the right angled type mounted in a ( recessed ?) box with a hinged cover might be the solution

Lisa - how about a socket inside the locker with cable coming out through a slot in the bottom edge of the lid (or the finger recess if yours is shaped like that).
