Are most marina shore power leads the same? and if so are they the same as caravan ones? I need to kit myself out with a set up for the rare occasions we may visit a marina, maybe Yarmouth this weekend.

Had a quick look and they look similar - blue three pin connectors. If so was going to nip in to Towsure to pick one up.

Thanks Paul.

Same thing and caravan dealers are probably the cheapest place.

price also depends on length and Amp capacity, but unless you have some hefty gear on board, 16A should be fine.

Yup same stuff also buy it from places like machine mart.

Or you could do what i did. Bought a real of 50m artic flex and a couple of connectors from screwfix. and made 2 x 25 metre cables for the same price as one from a retail outlet. B and Q and places like wickes or your local electrical wholesale shop should be able to supply you the flex and bits. just the same as wiring a plug at home just get the right ampage.

Ohhh you have to be qualified to do that now in your own home. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yep ...

Just make sure its the blue connectors .. not yellow ... (blue are 240V ... yellow are 110V and don't fit)

As another says the cheapest way is to buy plug / socket and separate cable - but to be honest at the total price for ready made - even scrooge me buys the one made up in the bag !

You can get them in various lengths ... up to very long !! You can also get plug splitters ... that means you can plug into a socket leaving a vacant slot for another via the same socket ...

You can get exterior mount sockets to fit to boat so cable doesn't have to go via hatch etc.

You can get total electric set-ups with breaker / RCD box ... cable ... plugs etc. all ready to go ... designed really to hang in a tent and provide instant safe electric supply ..

Get to a really good big caravan Supermarket and have a look round - lights, galley gear, toilet bits, sink stuff, even hatch stays .... etc. etc.

maybe ... but haven't met one yet ... don't even know what it looks like !!

If I did and it was my boat - I would swap it for a standard fitting

The Towsure unit is a great simple solution for the small boat ... and price is very good ....
