Shipwright\'s Arms from Harty

We were thinking of a trip down to Harty Ferry - I've always wanted to stop by the Shipwright's arms but drawing 2m Faversham Creek is a no-no for us. Can I moor / anchor at Harty and go down in the tender or is it too far? Tide on Saturday looks fine - late evening high tide so there's enough water... anyone done this?

Not sure about the answer but did you know it is the Medway barge match this Saturday - take a camera as there will be comings and goings from the Swale area!

You can also take the dinghy onto the hard at harty Ferry and walk round. It is a bit of a treck, but very pleasant. From Harty Ferry there is a foot path that follows the edge, and then round up Faversham Creek, then up the side of Oare Creek and back once past the end. (you can see the pub on the other side in the full knowledge that it is only another half hour walk!).

I am sure going up by dinghy is fine so long as you do not get stuck in the mud on a falling tide. Tides also can be pretty strong so make sure you have enough fuel/welly to do the trip.

Tide will make this dingy outing perfect or a nightmare. We got it right last year, with the last of the flood to help me row down the creek, then a bit of ebb to take me back. About 1.5hr either side of HW.

This relied on having an appropriate mooring in the Swale. We moved the boat to anchor up-tide to get the right position.

The Shipwrights seems to have got a bit wierd tho'. Unfriendly to dogs and children. It used to just condem lager drinkers.

I wouldn't bother, actually the landlord (Derek) is a miserable so and so and basically seems to think that customers are a nuisance.
The two pubs at Oare (at the head of Oare Creek aren't bad at all, the Castle being the less glitzy of the two. About 15-min walk from Harty causeway. Or if you arrive at Sunday lunchtime, the bar at Hollowshore Cruising Club (inside Youngboats' building at the head of the creek) will be open and you will be most welcome!

Choppy in the Swale on Saturday evening - took some spray over the bow of the inflatable on our way to the pub - SWMBO got a wet arris. Landlord greeted us and said - "well you can't sit on my cushions then..." and promptly removed the cushion from her chair.

Having said that - beer was good and food was bog-standard but well cooked. Definitely an experience not to be missed.

Unfortunately we were on our way by Sunday lunchtime - another time I hope
