Shipmate RS 8000 VHF

I have recently installed a Shipmate RS 8000 VHF set onboard which is 2nd hand and there is no user manual with it.

The problem is that l cannot get the set to change channel from 16. I have found an online manual which tells me that the 2 dials underneath the channel indicator display changes the channel, except it does not in this set. Does anyone have experience of these sets, am l doing anything wrong? Thanks.

To the left of the 2 knobs which change the channel is a button marked "CH 16". When this button is pressed, the radio works on channel 16, and the channel selection knobs are disabled. Pressing the "CH 16" button again enables the channel selection knobs, so you can then change the channel.

That's where I got the info from. Just linking to a manual doesn't seem to work in many cases, it's necessary to interpret the instructions.
