After two and a half years on the market and several price drops she has finally gone. The cash went into the account today! You know that old saying about the two happiest days of boat ownership, when you buy and when you sell. I never could understand that - until now. Once it was decided that we had to sell she turned from our pride and joy into a financial burden that had to be moored and insured and looked after. Now she's finally gone, that burden is lifted and I can again remember all the good times.
Happily the price drops didn't mean a loss as I had first intended to buy a production-line off-the-peg boat for the first time. But after looking at the types I fancied I realised none came up to my expectations and needs. So it's back to the shed with another cheapy for a top to bottom refurb'. It's the 1978 Reinell I have mentioned once or twice in recent months.
40 feet down to 26 will take some getting used to but 5 MPG instead of 1 will help to make up for it and 20 knots instead of ten will also be a new experience!

That is good news. Though it goes to show how the market is if it took over two years, as wasn't the vessel that you've just sold the one which appeared in numerous editions of MBM showing upgrade projects you had done to her. Having previously viewed the sales advert i thought the spec and finish was excellent, and the price seemed fair to me, so for the new owner they have got themselves a very good vessel imho.

Good luck with your new boat, the hard graft will be worth the happy days afloat.

Congrats Pete, have to admit to looking at your for sale ad on more than a few occasions.
Are you able to disclose which "sale medium" sold her and is she staying local?

She was finally sold by broker Adrian Nicolle. She is staying in Watchet for a few months while I do some work for the new owner like making the arch most fold. She will then be going off on a European trip through France, avoiding Belgium, then onto Holland and Germany and finally down to the Med'. Just the sort of trip she was built for. I'm happy to see her going to a good home with a whole new raft of adventures before her.

Hmm, I know what you mean about the happiest two days. When our old boat finally went last summer I felt, kind of naked, in a funny sort of way. And relieved of course. I'm hoping our next boat purchase will be concluded in the next week or two - survey and sea trial this Friday. Fingers crossed eh.

I hope the plans for your next boat work out.
