Not sure what's going on at Shepperton Lock EA moorings. I hope they are improving them, but they could have picked a better time than the summer when moorings are at a premium anyway.
More joined up thinking required.

Also saw another Thames "surfer".

I have never moored there although thought of it a few times.
I guess they have to do it now as it floods like crazy there in Winter.
Will definately give it a go when they have finished it.

Mooring

Have moored there quite a few times, it was a good mooring. peacefull but some times hard to get a space. nb's like it a lot.

Any idea on who operates the mooring on the weir stream just above Shepperton lock? They are look as though they are brand new flotaing pontoons with leccy and water.

Part of the mooring they are doing up look as though it has a large chunk cut into the bank, not sure what that is for...

We've used those moorings once, but it their not very nice, we always moor above the lock outside the Thames Court pub which is usualy a very pleasant spot to spend an evening.

There are

What are the pubs like close to those EA moorings? Always on the lookout for somewhere to take folk on a shorter trip and a closeby pub is a bonus!

Two just up from there which of course I have forgotten the names of both, one a bit gastro the other a bit old, both ok the last time I went and both within easy walking distance

The gastro pub is The Minnow. It used to be run by the same people as The Kingfisher by Chertsey Bridge but now has gone up market. The food was very good last time we were there but it is quite pricy.

The old fashioned pub is The Old King's Head but I have never visited it.

You could also take the ferry across to Nauticalia and walk up past the lock to The Thames Court. Just make sure you find out when the last ferry will be so that you are not stranded. It is supposed to run until 1730 every day.

The old pub is actually called The Old Crown. It used to be our regular when we lived in Weybridge. Haven't been for a while, but the food is very good, the landlords wife does the cooking and they specialise in fresh fish. They also have a lovely little suntrap garden on the River Wey, although you can't see a great deal of it, very nice beer there as well, used to be Courage and probably still is, so if you fancy your Directors...

Last time I was in there, about 8 years ago, it was Youngs - very acceptable.

Kingfisher which is part of the same chain as Thames Court. Like Thames Court but never had a good meal in Kingfisher. Other one is the Boat House which is nice.

EA mooring opposite WMC are supposed to be finished in 3 weeks but probably could have been faster as the work men only work 10-3. Wish I could.

The moorings above Shepperton Lock may become part of Lindon Lewis Marine.

The moorings on the lock island - they will be for permanent moorers to rent. The EA moorings opposite WMC will still be free and disabled friendly. With an access point for the Shepperton to Weybridge Ferry.

Seems like we're being positively spoilt this year, what with new moorings at Hurley lock, Wallingford and now improvements (allbeit ill-timed) at Sheperton! Any other 'new' ones I should know about during the three years I've been away from the Thames?
