There was a question recently about the legality of catching clams in theRia Formosa if I remember rightly.
I enquired at tha capitania in Faro just to make sure As an amature, on foot and without equipment you are entitled to 2kg. However there are times when all capture is prohibited due to dangerous pollution ,usually natural, algae. you are unlikely to be aware of this unless you read the Portuguese press or visit the capitania.
