SH Handheld Charging Cradle

The charging cradle for my SH HX280 seems to have suddenly stopped working. Is there anything I can check in the cradle i.e. a fuse?

Also I found that I can buy a new cradle online but this comes without the plug so how can I check if it's the cradle and not the plug that's faulty??

Before you spend any money check the contacts between phone and cradle. Feel for a tiny 'pip' with your fingernail. If found, carefully remove with a fine file and all will be well.

Thanks for this this but should have made it clear that the light no longer comes on so cradle seems dead. Just not sure if the cradle has died or the charger plug

Can you borrow the 12v charger of another appliance to see if that works? I use transformer block of an old digital photo frame at home and leave the SH one on the boat.

Had thought about this and have been scouring the house for a charger with the same connection. No luck as yet but will keep looking and thanks for the reply.

I assume there's not much to actually go wrong in the cradle so will open it up in case there's something obviously wrong, which I doubt

Don't even think of spending any money until you've had a word with the S-H service dept. Their customer service is legendary and you may be pleasantly surprised at the outcome.

My SH cradle doesn't show a light until the radio is plugged in to it. Then it shows a red light whilst charging, and a green light when charged. I don't think there's a fuse in the cradle, but there could be one in the 12v cigar lighter plug.

I had a similar problem, different make and it turned out to be corrosion on the radio contacts. A scrape with a knife point and all was fine.

Put a multimeter on the charger lead to see if that is working. Then across the terminals on the cradle. If all ok then it's the radio contacts.
