Was last up there to just over a year ago Lots of anchoring but quick current, think what flows down in winter rains?

Marina is really cheap, we stayed one night for free!

Gelves in the river is exposed to occasional strong winter flash flood currents - and maybe debris. The marina is fine, if there's space, but many berths have less than 2m at low water - albeit very soft mud.

Take the right branch and go through the lock towards Seville for secure and safe berthing. Any anchoring has to be clear of the traffic. Quite big boats use the canal. Right hand side just after the lock are some cheap pontoons, but it's rather isolated there. The yacht club berthing in town is central and excellent - but expensive!

Lock and bridge timings on http://www.jimbsail.info/drupal/tidal-europe/atlantic-south-iberia - which also lists some alternatives.

Thanks for that info guys, my air draught is 15 metres, so I will get under that. Cheap marina sounds good to me, might go in for a few days. As far as I know there has not been much rain down there so the flow may not be too bad.( but I won't be there until early Feb, so that could change ). Also I have spent some time in the Guadiana so I have an idea of what you are talking about.

Thanks to you also Jimb, I logged on to your site a few days ago. I was looking up the country regs section as I reckon they are all going to try to bring in more revenue through fines, ( secure their pension ). I was boarded about a year ago in Portugal ( upriver of the bridge in Guadiana ) and they went through me for, liferaft, flares, (all out of date, they were not impressed ) fire extinguishers, ( though one was new, bought in a local hardware superstore (Aki ) because it did not have a date on it they were upset about that too. However they let me go after many phone calls to their boss on mobiles as I told them I was only goin shopping to Ayomonte.
That is a great site you have I have it set in my favourites now.

+1 for Puerto Gelves. Very cheap - see prices here: http://www.puertogelves.com/

Easy and cheap bus access into the city centre although Gelves is nice too. We initially moored in the marina but moved onto the pontoon in the river for more shade and breeze (doubt you will have that problem in Feb!). Very laid back and friendly place, hope you enjoy.

It can be surprisingly cold too. I stayed for a week at the Club Real several years ago, in November, and was very glad to have heating. Below 0 for several nights. Also been there in the summer when it was over 40 deg C. One of my favorite cities.

How expensive is the club real? If we pick up the drilling contract there, I would like to stay there for three to four months, we are 17 meters.

12m about €16 a day average for a 6 month stay over winter a couple of years ago is the only firm data I have (included elec and water) though I'm told daily rates are much higher in season.

We're talking about a place with swimming pools . . . smart club house . . . 25 min walk from old town centre, a really nice spot. Good security. Phone number Club Nautico de Sevilla Tel: +34 955 76 07 28. They don't take reservations!

It's a pain getting into and out of the place. The large new locks are now functioning, but they're not charted, and you have to travel through with commercial traffic (I must update the site to reflect this change!). Then you have to wait for the (rare) bridge opening times. "Well worth it for a long stay" is the tenor of all reports I've received.
