Leaking diesel from return nipple and looks corroded/cracked.

Local diesel guy said better get new injectors.

OM636 guy said um very difficult/expensive and is looking for second hand parts for me, (very helpful guy and would highly recommend).

Found new injectors in Germany 170 euros each and Monarch copies (not the ones in the auction, unfortunately), http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221114819682?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

So I am thinking about buying some of these nozzles: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/28104899...WNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_500wt_716

and have found these instructions: http://vincewaldon.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=20&Itemid=28

So can anyone offer opinion on whether injector nozzles can be changed at home, or will they all end up leaking because I can not work cleanly enough., I appreciate they might not be set up as original but surely better than the injectors as they are now? I know an engineer who has a pop tester so can see the spray pattern and collect some fuel to see if they are delivering similar amounts?

Anybody got any om636 injectors hidden away that they do not need?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts/opinion.

They must be set to correct pressure or you will be in even moire trouble. This can only be done with the proper equipment and is not a DIY job. Shop around diesel injection specialists as prices vary by a huge amount.

Give Alan a call at Lynx Diesels in Wokingham. He overhauled my 4108's injectors and pump and they came back looking like new, with new nozzles.
His prices are very reasonable and he's been in this business for decades so knows his stuff.

If you have a pop tester and a watch, substantial knowledge of what you are looking at, ensure everything is spotless and have the correct specifications / tools to hand, there is absolutely no reason why you cannot change the nozzles at home.

However why would you want to do this if the bodies are u/s?

I have some different bodies that I wanted to use to replace the damaged current bodies and was just keen to give it a go. Anyhow Mr Westfield has come up trumps with new bodies at an affordable price and nozzles slightly more than fleebay but would trust his choice. Might still have ago at taking the old ones apart, when I have a bit of spare time.......

Thanks

I used to do it, quite easy as long as you are careful AND have the pop tester and the little brushes and prickers. If you cant get nozzles, I have refurbed old ones with jewellers rouge and brasso as an abrasive.
Basically strip down, have a couple of bowls of clean diesel. Use the brass wire brushes to clean carbon off, prick the nozzle holes, use the rouge and or brasso to lap the needle in to the nozzle. Clean and clean again. Re assemble, and put on the pop tester. Adjust till the injector "breaks" at the correct pressure. It should be possible to make it "creak" at the breaking pressure. BE CAREFUL, 200 atms will penetrate your skin! EASILY!
Dont even contemplate stripping unless you have the simple tools to do as I have said above!
