When I ended the season last September, I wisely flushed the outboard in a wheelie bin.

Slightly less wisely, I chose a wheelie bin with grass cuttings in the bottom, and they managed to block stuff up.

The tell tail is spitting bits of water out, but it's not a steady trickle, so I'm worried that the engine will overheat when used properly (I intend to this weekend).

Before I set about pulling it to bits, has anybody got any helpful advice on this engine?

Start by making sure its not just the teltale that is blocked

garden rubbish bins do not make good bins for flushing outboards. I think there was more than just grass clippings in there

is it meant to have a tell-tale, the df2.5 only spits from the leg (by the reverse clamp). Is this a new engine to you, if so it may be worth reading the manual first. If it used to have a tell-tale then it must be just the little uns that are wee free.
