I have found my autopilot has got worn gearbox. I have obtained a service kit but have no instructions. Has anyone experience of servicing these units. The particular problem I have is how to press on the new small gear on to the motor shaft. It is a tight fit and forcing it on May damage the motor. Preheating may be a solution .

What ever you do, don't try to remove the big brass nut from the leadscrew. Many essential ball bearings will fall out.

I think the gear is just a push fit on the motor, but support the motor shaft when you're pressing it on/off.

Thanks all. It's now reassembled. I used a vice and a spacer bar to push fit the small cog on the motor spindle. It was a tight fit but I guess that's the design intent. I added a drop of locktite on the spindle taking care not to fix the bearings. It's all back together and runs much smother.
