I have an old blue B&G T1 linear hydraulic ram on the boat, I think it's a rebadged Hypro ML40. It's a bit squishy and leaks small amounts of oil from the main shaft seal and the solenoid area so I suspect at a minimum will need the oil topped up and bled. The instructions for this look pretty simple so I will give that a go later in the summer.
If that fails to solve the problem a new seal kit is about £200 but I wouldn't be confident I can service it without breaking something or making it worse. Does anyone have any experience servicing these, or recommendations for someone to service it?
Hopefully it's something a general hydraulic shop will be able to do but wondering whether it will be cost effective paying somone else to do it, and whether I just cut my losses and get a Raymarine electric linear drive which I understand will be more reliable and use less power.
