Serial number on 5hp Yamaha outboard

Hi. Hope someone can help me with this. I want to send the serial number of my 1996 2 stroke Yamaha 5hp outboard to my insurers. I'm having trouble locating it! There are two data plates on it, one on each side of the transom clamp. I think the serial number is 003474 but it seems a bit short for a serial number so very grateful for any advice on this. Hopefully the attachment works, which is a photo of it. (I've had the engine for a while and know it's provenance so there is no possibility it has been tinkered with etc.) If this is not the serial number, any ideas where else it is, I have looked everywhere and under the hood and cannot see any other data plates anywhere on the engine. many thanks.

Yes thats the serial number .... it should also have been recorded in the owners manual

But are you sure its a 1996 model , not 1998

Many thanks Vic. I think it's 1996 as the other plate says 1996 in the box after the CE stamp and there's nothing else that appears to relate to a date. But not completely sure.

I was assuming that the W below the serial number was the year letter.

You need to include the whole line from 6M0 S 003474 as the serial number - being model number, short shaft, serial number. The little W set to the right below the number, is the year made - 1997.
