Not knowing your budget (new/used boat?) I'd look more around the 'Fisher'-styles.

Ocqueteau.com have offerings too. Eg the 815 (actually 8.03 LOA)

We had a merry Fisher 625 and went to SIBS a few years ago to upgrade & made my mind up to put a deposit down on a Bene Antares 750, but with all the extras we wanted it was starting to get expensive... so I bought a used Hardy Mariner instead, best decision I ever made. Don't forget this little beautifully built British boat... for an ex raggie its surely right down your street!

Thanks for reminding me about Ocqueteau - we used to berth where the Essex dealer launched them and they always attracted me but I've not really kept up with them in recent years.

Looks like we will need to do a bit more research!

Ah yes, the Hardy. Went on one a few years back when the new to boating owner asked me how his plotter worked. I must have looked knowledgeable - which proves that looks can be deceptive.

He was setting off on his first ever trip - a delivery of about 150 miles in 2 hops which I thought was rather brave. I'm sure there was no problem and with hindsight wish he had asked me along.

Your all giving me much food for thought here.

French Ocqueteau has been around for many years. Main focus is on fisher types but in this case the builder is located towards the Atlantic, not the med. Like eg. Rodman.

I wasn't aware of the largest model until my quest in the MF925/Antares 10.80 range led Thejonesey's to point me to his 975'er.
We went to view and closed the deal. Have since surveyed it further and must say, that it is made to the best of standards, no cutting corners (within it's class).

Vetus equipment, Nanni (Toyota) engines, ZF gearboxes etc. Electrics dimensioned with a good safety margin, too.

Although I'm reading in this great forum already for a long time, this is going to be my first post.

Yesterday at the BOOT I could take some pictures of the heads.
The room on the Antares is really, really small. It might work in case of emergency.
On the Merry Fisher the space seems to be used a bit better.

Greetings from Oldenburg, Germany

Thanks for taking the time to do that Chris, and welcome to the forum. We're in Spain at the moment and have been looking at a few over here where they seem to use them for fishing so the heads are a thing to be avoided. In fact most of the boats are to be avoided :(:(:(

Hopefully our boat sale completes tomorrow so we will have the opportunity to think more about what we want to do.

Thanks again,
