Hi,

I have a Senior 31 Motor Cruiser that my brother and I are currently refurbishing. The engines and drives are not much good they are Penta AQ171c with 290sp drives.

Ok I need to target this question to owners or previous owners of Senior 31. Project 31, Princess 32 and some RLM's.

What are your twin engine configurations and what sort of fuel economy and speeds are you getting? I know these hulls plane at about 12½ to 13 Knts.

I have a list or engines that were fitted to Senior, Project 31's and princess 32's, I also have a list of potential engines I can fit into my boat but I would like some thoughts on the subject.

Thank you for your time.

Baz

There's one on the Hamble with a pair of Cummins 5.9BT 220hp diesels on shafts. Big machinery for that hull I think.

I had an original project 31 and was dying to put a pair of kad42's on duos but never got around to it, totally not worth it but I like tinkering.. There was one identical to mine with a pair of Volvo penta ad31's called 'cockayne' wich was a flyer, I'd of thought 130 to 150hp 4 cylinder diesels would be perfect IMHO.

I used to do a lot of work on Pippiri 11 which was a Senior Sheerline 32. It was fitted out and owned by the late Frank Verrill a surveyor based in Bursledon. She was powered by twin Fords originally rated at around 275shp each but latterly derated to about 225shp. Frank entered her into the Cowes Torquay race and I believe she aquitted herself quite well. Before she was sold she was based at Mercury Marina. I wonder if this is the same boat Ben?

i remember viewing a princess 32 for my dad a few years ago, with 2 kad 32's...

there was about enough room to keep some cigarette papers in the engine bay with them - stuff doing the filters.

i remember the broker telling me about a trip he had been on personally, it could out run most other boats of that size, im sure he said around 35/40 knots.

never did trial it

There 's a Senior 31 with a pair of 250hp ford sabre in langstone harbor ,25 knots flat out I think
