selling the slug and buying a mobo

Being a yottie' myself I don't have any problem with mobo's at all.
My problem is, down here they act very responsibly and conduct themselves in a very positive way, yet when you see Dylans videos many mobo's have a total disregard of the speed limits and other peoples safety.
Us yachties are not exempt from abusing others either, the 'make em alter course' types or 'we'll see how close we can get to that ugly plastic tub before gybing' types or my favourate type of yottie 'out of my way stupid stinky' even when they have no right of way.
I for one enjoy the self sufficiency of yachting but with some luxurys too.
Music in the cockpit is fine by me providing ones not forcing it on others.
One question I would like to ask is, the type of music liked by mobo's and yotties???

Really???????

Think you are going over board a bit to much there mate.Really can't imagine that type exist.
At least when I am forced to insist upon the rights of way I certainly don't gloat in that way........& I can't imagine others do particularly when they hav'nt got the right of way because most stinkies tend to be hard pretty unforgiving things that you would'nt want to collide with.

The gentle sound of waves parting at my bow. The sound of quiet friendly conversation. Sandpipers at dusk & dawn. The quiet hiss of a flood tide returning across the mud flats.

Why blanket the natural sounds with man-made noises that only suit the person making them?

Some motorboaters seem to be fairly unaware that other water users might have different priorities.
Ubergeekian, why are you unaware that other water users, let alone other motorboaters, might have different priorities to you?

Erm, let me get this right. I pointed out that other water users might have different priorities, so you asked me why I was unaware that other water users might have different priorities?

I'm not quite sure what your point is. Could you explain a little?

If I am the first and only boat moored in a Cala and the kids are having great fun on all the skis and towable toys and a dive boat enters the Cala are you suggesting we stop all activities.

Well, you've just said that if you enter a Cala where people are enjoying a quiet and peaceful time you would have no compunction in making as much noise as you want and disrupting them.

So why shouldn't the dive boat disrupt you? You can always go back out to sea, as you suggested for anyone you disrupted. Sauce for gander, old boy, is sauce for the goose.

Everyone has a duty of care for their own safety and everyone has the same right to enjoy the Cala, Bay or anchorage as they wish.

Except for the ones who want some peace and quiet, as they can just bugger off whenever you want to make some noise.

If you wish for peace without interuption all you have to do is raise your sails and head off shore.

The problem is basically one of asymmetry. Noisy people destroy the pleasure of quiet people: quiet people have no effect on the enjoyment of noisy people. Luckily most noisy people realise this, and practice good manners. It's only a few - kids who play loud music on their mobile phones in trains and their boating equivalents - who show such discourtesy. Alas, it only takes a few.

Great at sliding trolls in threads and aspires to replace KC as Grand Master but not in the same league.

Get back to you on that one.

I think that to accuse some-one, such as Kristopher Columbus of being troll when he has a proud history on this forum of some excellent and perceptive posts that have really added to my enjoyment of this forum is a pretty low shot.

However, who am I to speak of low shots.
