Selling our boat or not!

I made it perfectly clear to the broker and asked him to make it clear to the buyer that whatever the survey revealed that 46k was the minimum i would accept. If he wished to proceed with the survey on that basis then that was perfectly OK. To my mind you then only have two possible outcomes buy or as Mr Banks puts it so elequently [--word removed--] off!

Tell him to shove it! thats 20k less than you wanted. Its a bad time to sell as its a buyers market, if you don't absolutely need to sell keep it until the market improves. I reckon its going to be a couple of years yet as we need to get over the red diesel thing and also a bit of a recession at the moment.

My immediate reaction was to tell him what i thought but in fairness to the broker (did i just say that) he said lets try and get a copy of the survey first.

people used to do this to me with houses all the time. If he lets you see the survey, you can take a view.... it will probably be a bundle of piddling jobs, (which you may be able to do for a few quid), or it may be stuff anyone should expect with a 2nd hand boat.

If he wont let you see the survey, it's cause he's lying, and the survey would prove that.

In the absence of another buyer, bide your time, and see what comes of the rerquest for the survey and its' contents if you get to see it.

Cheers

Agree with others you reduced on the basis that if nothing "major" was revealed in the survey then he must honour the deal. I would not reduce it further due to this agreement.
