looking to sell my boat. rather than paying someone to advertise it, does anyone know of wanted websites where if it fits a wanted persons discription i can contact that person. dont like the sound of %8 fee!

look at the medium price asked by brokers in EEC,put your price ex broker fees and you will have a better chance to sell your boat.I am living in France,I am interested by an English boat lying in Portugal,advertised by a broker in GB but he never inspect the boat he has for sale so why brokerage fees

yeh i cant justifiy 8%!!!

Put the details in the For Sale section, and a couple of free/cheap web sites..... I think apolloduck, and boatsandoutboards, are some such sites.... then refer to them in your sig......

try apllo duck you can advertise for free or very reasonable fee. we have our boat on their site, they also have 'boats wanted'
Also worth negotiating a brokers fee we got 6% with one & 6% with no vat with another. Push & you will get a good deal, then keep onto them to push your boat, it can work.

Having sold a 27ft boat last April, my experience was that advertising in the Yachting press was waste of time and money, I got zero response. There are no active brokers with 100miles of where we live, so they didn’t seem like a viable option. But advertising on the owners’ association website for a very modest fee, brought a steady stream of very serious enquires, one converted into a sale.
Buyers usually have very good idea of what type of boat they are looking for and an owners association is good place to look for boats, common problems and advice. So if your boat has an owners association, place an add, it’s very focused advertising.

Having just sold mine in about 3 months advertising. I used the owners association, B amd O. Apollo Duck, Blue Moment and than backed it up with a local broker (who I had used before) at agreed a discounted rate of 5%. This saved me a round trip of some 130 miles each time somebody said they were interested in seeing the boat and therefore I avoided the tyre kickers.
The majority of interest came via the Owners site (free to put on it) and Apollo Duck. B and O did produce some enquiries although all of the "Flakey" ones came from that source. In the end the boat sold through a combination of the Owners Assoc. ( boat ad originally seen by the purchaser) and the Broker who arranged the veiwing and the financial matters. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

you can refer to it if you're advertised in a YBW mag .... otherwise "you're on your own" .... as I found out in November !! Still - you've had a good run ... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
