Just been to the boat this weekend, not been for 2 weeks to find the flybridge windscreen at steep angle, so covers off to find the tiny cheap self tappers missing causing scratches etc to the gellcoat, why at the point of build didnt good old Marine project fit some decent sized bolts and nuts instead, this is just another point of cheap manufacturing process. Any views on this sore subject as some of you will remember Saturday in the solent was a day for cruising and not B------y working!

During the summer I had on board Ray Bateman, now the boss of St Kats but formerly a works manager or some such with Princess. He went in my engine room and immediately could tell which team had built my boat. He explained that certain team leaders would use a nut and bolt whilst another would use a self tapper.

In such cases, would the manufacturer's specification state the fixing method to be used?
