we are currently having problems with our Colnebrook Seareef self furling!.
the sail will not furl and we think the problem lies with the top swivel.
this system is new to us and wonder if you have any suggestions?

Don't know your system but a common error is to have the halyard too tight - this inhibits furling. Might be worth checking.

I hope that you do not experience the same trouble as I had a few years back when my Beneteau First 260 was new. The furling gear had been rigged incorrectly by the supplier. The swivel was fitted too low allowing the halyard to bind at the top. I was advised to loosen the halyard a little but that only made things worse. Eventually I gave a tug on the furling line and the whole mast came down on top of me. What had happened was that the twisting force which was being continually applied to the top of the forestay by the halyard had weakened the forestay.

I have had no more problems after getting an independent rigger to reassemble the mast and furling gear.

All I can advise is do not tug too hard if it is binding. Best of luck.
