That is certainly a deep low and snow is included in the NW area. Not a time to be at sea I think.

That's not good, I don't think I would like Icelandic weather. Some years ago, we ducked into Dungarvan to avoid a forecast F7-8 and rafted up alongside an Icelandic flagged Victoria 34. Friendly skipper and family and when we said why we were there, he tried to wind us up by calling us pussies for avoiding such mild weather. When I retorted that he must be as mad as he looked, he told us in all seriousness that if he didn't sail in 8s and 9s, he wouldn't get much sailing in, on some of his weeks off. Turned out he worked (IIRC an engineer) on a fish factory ship in northern waters with quite long breaks ashore.

Guess the wind we sail in is kind of relative to our experiences! Poor Fiji (coronavirus? And a hurricane). And now we have a distinct lack of isobars.

I’m sure I remember, many years ago, a Shipping Forecast which included: “Southeast Iceland: Cyclonic, Force Twelve, Severe Icing.’’
I used to use navtext sailing up and down from Gib to the Canaries. There were often warnings of plagues of locusts from the Spanish Met office........
