Minack Live!

This is a live view from atop Porthcurno. Ignore the floodlight but to the right of floodlight is the Lizard Point lighthouse I believe but what is the small flashing light to the right of that at sea level? Cannot find it on my chart. Seems to flash continuously (but not quick or very quick) with approx 4 seconds between each flash....... sort of opposite of occulting......... off for longet than on. Thanks. cant find it here

I see no lights, no play, look around you........not much!

That's a live view. We'll have to wait til' tonight to find out.

:) Yes i did put it in the thread title but i could have been clearer. I am also sleeping and waking at weird hours.
I was surprised the web cam picked up the light house but did not look into the sectors coz i figured it was loom and the only massive 3 flash light around. Even at approx 4am there was too much ambient light to see the small light that appears to be at sea level and doing its much smaller (less intense light output by orders of magnitude). Good live web cam though. Good beach to look at in daytime.

Must be a good camera if it can zoom in to watch the naturists on Pedn Vounder beach..... :ROFLMAO:
I didnt know there were such beaches in uk. This is a lovely beach though.
Porthcurno Beach
Is it safe to anchor there regarding those buried communication cables? ( not talking about safe regarding shelter and wot not). Id like to think they were buried too deep to foul my anchor.

Not safe to anchor if there's any south in the wind and not permitted because of the cables. They are likely not buried deep - a few years ago (OK, maybe 20 odd) the winter storms removed a few feet of sand from the beach and uncovered a mass of cables.

Googled it.........
Pedn Vounder Beach (Treen) - 2020 All You Need to Know Before You Go (with Photos) - Treen, England | Tripadvisor
Doesn't mention nudist.
If it is the smaller beach just to East of Curno beach i aleays thought it was only accessible by boat or swim. Didnt know there was a footpath. Rather go by sea. But prefer no nudists.:)

There's access to the beach via a footpath off the South West Coast Path, which culminates in a rocky scramble down the cliff. The beach can be totally submerged on a high tide, but at low tide it's bigger than the beach at Porthcurno.

I've no idea how deep the cables are buried at Porthcurno though, as I've only visited on foot.

Got some help and captured some film and uploaded i hope. Light is to right of screen in video, flashing. As an aside don't know if camera has moved or what but loom from lighthouse is not as large as previous night.
Youtube vid capture

And now the light seems to have stopped or disappeared or is obscured or webcam can't catch it or I don't know what and also lighthouse loom has increased but I would have thought with dawn coming it would lessen if anything??!! Weird to me.

So it looked like this flashing light moved to left, behind very large rock and reappeared so as a sub training ground i looked this up

Sub nav lights

But 90 flashes per minute does not tally with 1 flash every 4 or 3 seconds that i saw and i cant see the colour obviously. And would a sub pop up in same spot 2 days in a row?
Very confused or thick.(me, not the submarine ........... subs are very very clever things)

I think it is Le Four light 92nmiles away. I need to do some trig to see if possible but it flashes 5 every 15 secs - see phots attached. trigonometey later. Tangents so pencil and paper needed. Took another live screen cast and it does flash 5 every 15 seconds. Alot more shipping on the horizon at 5am this time. Being the time period matches 28 meters high, minak thratr 69 meters high plus height of webcam...........

The answer............
According to this website David Senesac Visual Line of Sight Calculations dependent on Earth's Curvature.
and then my calcs.............
A 6 foot man at sea level can see a distance of3.69 nm
A person at 28 meters or 91 feet can see a distance of 303nm.
So if Le Four light is bright enough it is possible to see it from over 92nmiles. Especially if person is another 60 meters higher at Minack theatre. I Cant check if bearing is accurate but looks like only light that matches flash pattern?

Now i want to know what the two lights reflected in the bay are.............
Pretty as a picture video

Surely the fist mentioned is the loom of Tater Du, Fl(3) 15s and the second is Lizard point Fl 3 s
