Second happiest day in boat history

Many thanks for being such a great contributor. Your expertise is really appreciated and I hope you will stay on the forum even though you are giving up sailing.

also wanted to say a big thank you for all the advice you'd given me on my various novice-y posts

Sounds like you've made lots of lovely memories and hopefully you'll make many more in your new adventures

Hello Viv. Yes your support of this forum is legendary and is much appreciated. I feel like I might have reached a similar stage of life. yes it is more difficult to get in and out of dinghy not to mention maintenance. I put my hopes in my son taking over the little boat but am a bit worried he will not use it enough. Young family and all that.
I am minded of my old dad. He loved cars and right up to the end with long periods bed ridden I think it always comforted him to know his car was in the garage. (just waiting for him) Logically he should have got rid of it to save insurance registration costs but In think it was worth it just to have it. Unfortunately we can not so easily just leave a boat in hopes of getting back to it. So yes best wishes to you without a boat. ol'will

Me too! After 17 years of ownership, 15 different countries and probably approaching 20,000 miles, my Bene 361 was sold last week. Not the price we hoped for, but that’s the market.

I have been sailing for 70 yrs now, first dinghies, then catamarans and finally cruising yachts. I expect I will still get a few trips on friends boats while I am still fit and able.
