Second hand chandlery?

Can anyone recommend a second hand chandlery between Dover and Plymouth? I am going to make this trip soon, and am an inveterate browser with an old boat which looks kind of strange with too much new plastic gear on board. I'd like to find just a few more old, but serviceable, bits and bobs to let the old girl look her age instead of having to look like a granny dressing as a teenager! There are a few good places remanufacturing classic parts, but this stuff sure is pricey due to short production runs, and I miss the rummaging for a gem!

Aladins cave at portmouth but cant tell you how to get there as I was taken by somone elso and was lost. Only problem is the berthing charges would probably cost as much as a classic refit.

The Barge was still there ealier this year - how could anything short of WW3 remove it? From Moody marina at Burseledon it is a short walk. Head W towards Southampton, pass under the railway bridge and take the first lane on the right. Walk a couple of hundred yards and it is unmissable. It includes a number of sheds and the main barge.
Have not been in Yot Grot for years. If it still exists it is within a ten minute walk from Lymington Town Quay. I found the Barge had a larger selection at more reasonable prices.

Re: Yot Grot is no more

Sadly now a second hand car dealer. However the barge at Bursledon is still there and has a larger stock than ever.

A certain MFV of disrepute in Dartmouth? You won't get any better, and as you know Mr Pitman, all fenders and blocks come with a glass of free wine!!!

The Barge is still there and since you will probably be going along the M27, jump off at J8. Go left off that Roundabout, up the link road and left at the roundabout at the top of the link road. Go straight for maybe a mile and you want the lane on the left immediately before the bridge........ but make sure you look scruffy because they seem to price things by what they think you can pay!!!

Re: Two Minutes Silence

I suggest we all take two minutes to mourn the passing of this institution. Seems the forum is full of Obituary notices at the moment.

There are various places in Salcombe, you'll need to wander about to find them. Also boat bits in queen annes battery, Plymouth do some second hand stuff. Depending on what you want Woods in Crediton just outside Exeter is excellent, you could spend all day there and still not see it all.
