Seatalk 3 way splitter

Does this do anymore than just join the wires together ? Any reason I shouldn't do just that without the splitter ?

the splitter is no more that a block connector.
all my nmea interconnections are via block connector in a weatherproof seatalk box /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Have you seen that I have two of these 3 way splitters listed on the 'For Sale' section?
They are a good way to join together sea talk cables without snipping off the connectors.
