Season ending ...

Fabulous photos Nigel (keep it up) and yes every one to his own home. I imgine you have visited Fremantle many times in your travels. I havn't visited Latvia but it looks good. ol'will
Except the 4th one! :(

Maybe why IMGUR failed.

Tomorrow ..... sailing Anisette .. the 38 ... along the coast to Pavilosta for lift out. They have a full service yard that I know owners ..,

Its going to be a bit cold out there ... but hopefully keeps to forecast of no rain ! Wind will be poor direction - so today - I topped of the fuel tank.

Its 7hrs sailing ... 1 hr car drive from home ... original intention to stay on the boat after arrival ... so we have next day to get lines back to mast foot .. remove sails ... etc .. get ready for yard to lift her out.
I already trailered my second car there - so we have transport with our gear to return home.

But looking at forecast ... trip to there should be OK .. but thinking that maybe staying on the boat without heating is a bit off !! The small village has a couple of hotels ... so thinking to take rooms so we are still there next day to finish up sorting the boat. Allows us also to have a decent drink to celebrate ... commiserate ? .... end of season ?

Ok - trip completed ... bit cold out there - but my new jacket etc did me proud. I was not looking fwd to the cold - but in fact enjoyed it ..

Boat is now alongside crane out pontoon ... while we sort out gear before lift on Monday.

Because heating system on board is not working at present - we nipped across the other side of harbour to the hotel .. will stay the night - then finish boat gear tomorrow.

Video etc to follow.

Mine's now safely on its cradle in the Gareloch after a good season, 830 Scottish miles mainly on the Clyde, but a few excursions round the MoK, avoiding the dreaded canal. The main problem on a couple of weeks was lack of wind, but fortunately I had a modern production boat which sails well in under 10 knots, and has behaved reasonably well up to 35knots. The fouling on the Clyde was very bad this year, and had to get lifted out once mid season to clear a barnacled sail drive and prop. Any recommendations for reducing that gratefully received.

Lift out and mast off tomorrow morning ...

Boats ready .....

When disconnecting cables at mast foot ... found B&G cable has chafe .. so maybe its why I have Wind / Tack problems ...

Also need to find solution to replace the cable gland through deck ... I always suspected it as reason for the leak .. today taking it apart - confirmed.

Yard who stepped mast for previous owner destroyed the press on cover and tried to cover up with self-amalgamating tape ... which meant I had to cut it all off ...

Nice video Nigel and best wishes with the lift out and winter storage. I must say I admire your dedication to sailing in cold. I certainly would not be a sailor in those temps /latitudes. ol'will

Hi Will,

I wasn't looking fwd to it - but once out there ... you know what it is - you are on YOUR boat ... I actually enjoyed it ..

Lift out in about 2hrs from now .. just getting ready to drive to yard to video / watch her lifted .. mast off etc.

Once out - I'm sure there's going to quite a few items to start threads on .. How do I fix this ... what to put in place of this etc ..
