Has anyone heard of a searider 25? It is apparently a 1960's yacht with bilge keels and GRP hull. A friend of mine has been given one as an unfinished project and would appreciate any further information on design, layout and value.

Got just the job for you ......

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/searider

Dedicated to these excellent sea-going motor-sailers .....

I have a Sunrider 25 ...... The Searider was actually a 24 and the Sunrider used the same basic hull and slightly different deck / superstructure .... adding a foot to the LOA to 25.
They were produced by Searider Yachts of Poole in 60's and 70's. Most were fitted with big engines ..... mine originally had a 32HP Perkins , recently changed to 40HP .

If they were given it ..... they are very lucky ....... there are not a lot available out there for sale.

It is said that Colvic in later years moulded some of the hulls etc. and then when Searider stopped - then were used in development of Colvic 26 .....

Get your friend / yourself to join the group - its free of charge and you will find pictures and notes about where others have refurbished interiors, others making repairs / changes etc. etc.

Any problem ...... PM me for advise on joining the group ....

Hi

I have just joined this forum having found your thread on Google.

I have a Searider 25, circa 1967, still with the original Perkins 4107 engine.

This year she is staying out of the water and I am doing a complete bottom job. The hull is still sound although there is some pitting of the gel coat.

These boats are built like tanks and will keep going where other boats of a similar size will no cope.

I have some specs in the form of an image file.

If you would like to send me your email address, I will forward them.

My God..a Perkins 4107 in a 25 fter! You should enter her in the Cowes to Torquay power boat race...

I have the same unit in my Halberdier (36ft and 10 tonnes) and its more than adequate...great engines arn't they?

The Searider yacht was from a Company :

Searider Yachts of Poole , most moulded by Tyler Boats .....

The Searider 24 hull was the basis for a series of boats : Searider 24 and Sunrider 25.

It is said that the Searider / Sunrider may have been the basis of the first Colvic 26 ..... but this is not proven or denied so far !!

I suggest that you join the Searider Group - where a number of members have already stripped / refurbished / use these fine strong boats.

They are Motorsailers - never designed to win any race or sail fast .... but they will certainly get you home through awful weather etc. They are built like tanks and heavy !!

My Sunrider 25 is fitted with Perkins 4107 engine - which replaced the original Perkins 4-99 .....

The Searider Yacht Group is :

Free to join and a very happy bunch .... come in and get help wherever possible ....
