Re: Moose Support.......

as you are taking a hammering from all sides here I will admit / confirm that I use mine to pick my way through the buoys heading into Rockley on dark nights.
I have a relatively low power unit that doesn't reflect of the bow at all and, through the glass of the cabin, highlights the hazards.
Running with it off Swanage/ Old Harry or whatever just doesn't hack it and, when I know I am comming back after dark, I take a route that keeps at least 30m from any pot markers and then navigate back over the same route (to a lesser degree I do the same in the harbour but they move more in the tide than I have space to navigate at times!

Save the Moose........./forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Re: You mean the moosy site!

I only got one pop up and the main page loads in about 30 secs. Then click on the frog on the right.......turn the sound up though.

Hee! Probly need some lessons from B1 cos my original intent was to have one paw print missing, to make it look like Moose was limping as well as bleedin. Couldn't do it, tried overlaying a white layer over one hoofprint, but no good. I'll try again next week, but off doing a RYA first aid course tomorrow (first top up course in 20 odd years)

Yes, sorry to hear of your plight. I'd see the doctor about your lip if I was you.
PS. I also find it useful to sparingly use a HH searchlight to find the reflective markers on the beacons marking the channel up to Kingsbridge at night. Don't altogether trust the GPS to be accurate enough. So far the only night sight I've ruined was that of a couple of ducks and an owl.

Rule 20b of the ColRegs sez.........
(b) The Rules concerning lights shall be complied with from sunset to sunrise and during such times no other lights shall be exhibited, except such lights as cannot be mistaken for the lights specified in these Rules or do not impair their visibility or distinctive character, or interfere with the keeping of a proper look-out.

There......thats perfectly clear, isnt it? Even a gait disadvantaged north american horned whatever it is should be able to understand that /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Dont see how you can mistake a search light from a green or red light. Or even an anchor light. So maybe you can use one??

Agreed. I have one of those trillion candlepower things that Happy would love. Used it once, and the glare from the coachroof, rails and sea mist blinded me. Now I use a cheapo image intensifier from Nauticalia for looking for bouys etc. while SWMBO drives (or vice versa).

I think.........
'or do not impair their visibility or distinctive character, or interfere with the keeping of a proper look-out' may be relevant tho. dont you?
