Know little of this manucturer but they look really well finished and an excellent sea-going boat ??

Any thoughts/experiences/advice ?

I think James Dickens used to be a dealer for them at one point, not sure now... always seemed a across between an Atlantic and Hardy to me.

A scaled up Corvette from the same designer, built next to Fairline by ex Fairline staff
Good sea boat but internal accommodation could be better on a boat of that size, deck space very good and very useable.

I presume you're referring to the Searanger 50 rather than the Searanger Atlantic 50? The Searanger 50 is reputed to have a very seakindly hull. It has a sort of hybrid semi-displacement/planing hull which seems to give the seakindliness of a SD hull but the speed of a planing hull. As already mentioned, they are built by a small manufacturer in Oundle who also outfit Atlantic boats. I've seen some of their interior woodwork produced by them for Atlantics and it was exquisite, certainly a class above what Fairline produce next door. An allround excellent boat by all accounts

Thanks for the reply. Any information I can find is very positive.

Volvopaul , no its not MM1 , will google his name and see what comes up

This will be my final boat so want something with space , all the extra , very seaworthy and well built. Seems a likely contender

I have seen one of these on Norfolk Yacht Agencys web site, struck me as a nice boat in the "wrong" place. middle of the Norfolk Broads ?
Perhaps they P/EXD for a Haines. Been there for some time, perhaps cheeky offer time !

Yes , thats the one. Difficult to see if price is good as not too common. As you say , maybe time for a cheeky offer. I want something to go a bit further afield than the broads and something that will do me for my retirement and it seems to fit the bill

That one has been for sale for a couple of years, its was brought back from Spain nearly a year ago, there was only about 9 built, if priced right should have sold by now.

FWIW I really like the Searanger 48/50s. However I do think that for the length the space is not used well. I think a Broom 450 would be a better proposition.

It probably doesn't matter but fwiw so far as I can see they may not be being made any more. The Searanger factory, which you walk past as you walk the 300m from Fairline's offices to the Sq65 and 78 sheds, seems closed up and there doesn't appear to be anything in build there. There is a mould parked outside doing nothing. I'm there on Friday so can ask if you like, in case I'm mistaken. Thw website does seem to suggest they're still building the boats; maybe the factory is just slow while they await the next order or something

Anyway, nice boats and they have a reputation for being well built. They built the Atlantic 42/44 iirc, as contract manufacturers for Atlantic

The handle is imperialmotoryachts or thereabouts- Michael who is representing vdv boats in UK.

Yes please. It wouldnt put me off but could perhaps be quite a useful "lever" to get the price down. Have had previous boats where a manufacturer has dissappeared but its not a real issue unless your boat is under warranty. All parts on most boats are pretty easy to obtain , apart from maybe moulding etc.

I do like the Brooms but prefer the "trawler" style and love the huge deck space on the Searanger.

just called the number on the website. They have ceased building boats but spoke to a very informative guy there who spent time explaining the company and telling me some history of the boat in question. He even offered assistance with pointing in the right direction for any spares that were needed. Very kind of him and most appreciated

The mould disappeared a few weeks ago, no idea where its gone. The same people manufacture some kind of artifical surfacing for tennis / sports courts.

A friend who used to own one a while back was offered the moulds then but had no use for them.
